Automatic Bias Control
The Automatic Bias Control (ABC) is an in-house developed instrument designed to automatically set and maintain the optimal operating point for Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZM) with a single click, ensuring consistent performance over time and under changing conditions.
The ABC supports a full range of Mach-Zehnder modulators, from single- and dual-polarization intensity modulators to polarization-multiplexed IQ modulators. Additionally, it supports a large range of materials, including Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) and Silicon Photonics (SiPh) base materials. A simple software reconfiguration allows to switch between different configurations, using the same hardware. This keeps your investment secure against future upgrades or changes in your setup.
For IQ modulators, the ABC precisely tracks the optimal operating point, even with varied RF input signals like QPSK, QAM-xx, or Nyquist-shaped signals, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. The ABC also compensates for quadrature error, a key performance parameter. This ensures stable operation, especially when switching between modulation formats.
With this unique feature set, the ABC is the most capable bias controller available today.
